last stop!
when we last left our hereos...
what was going on? perhaps we were leaving Manali for Shimla. that was another harsh bus ride (have I mentioned they aren't sized for me?) down from the mountains and back into another range further south. Shimla is very pretty and cool-weathered, but there is not a whole lot to do, and furthermore we both got pretty sick, probably from the food. by the end of our 2nd night everything I had in me seemed to have gone down the toilet.
but none of the vomiting though, so I'm still counting myself lucky for an India-goer. it was a long train ride then out of the mountains on this old single-gauge chugger; at Kalka we switched to a much bigger affair which brought us into Delhi. about 12 hrs travel in all. the best part was getting to talk to people; we met some nice folks. and really funny kids! who are magically drawn very strongly to me, and then we teach each other silly faces.
I'll be back home tomorrow, after which I'll get to work posting all kinds of photos and videos, and extended musings and so forth about what I learned in India and how I liked it.
I have to say here at least, that it took me just about a month to learn how to navigate my way around everything. my feeling at this point is that this was a most successfuly first trip to India, got me well equipped for what I need to do next time. when I think of all I've learned here... wow.
