McLeod pt. 2

Hi again,
It's been just over a week now that we've been here in the Dharamsala area. We are having a really nice time. So different from the rest of India, way more chilled out, air is cooler and cleaner, and there's still so much going on.
A couple days ago I found this volunteer center called LHA, where you can sign up for English conversation classes with Tibetans, a chance for them to use what they are learning and also to hear different Englishes. I've gone twice, and though it's pretty tiring, what with being the de facto "teacher", it's also way interesting, as I get to hear their personal stories and learn about their lives. And all the students are so curious and inquisitive, it's great to engage with them.
I've done quite many a walk here, and there is still much in the area to see. For sure I want to go back to Bhagsu falls, where there are small pools to hang out in, or take a shower.
Our big trip today was to Gyuto Tantric University, where HH Karmapa gives a public audience twice a week. This was very brief of course, but still had a big impact. He is the head of the Buddhist lineage that we practice, so being in his presence even briefly is very meaningful. I feel really quite fortunate.

Next few days will involve a few more hikes, some more English Conversation Class, and maybe a trip to Manali or Kinnaur valley this weekend. It's just so nice here. I'm glad our idea was to be in the north, since apparently so much of the country is just awefully hot this time of year. Yet we will probably head out some time next week- I'm still keen on going to Bodhgaya and Sikkim.

And overall, just enjoying the whole vacation vibe. Eating pretty well I would say, sampling a lot of different foods, meeting interesting travelers, getting some good old exercise... and of course learning so much. There's so much to talk about, my head swims when I try to think of where to start.
So instead I'll stop. Best wishes to all, ciao!
